Mundijong Heritage Community Garden & Church

Located in the grounds of the Mundijong Heritage Uniting Church on the main street of Mundijong, the Community Garden has been operating since 2008.

The Mundijong Heritage Community Garden is a not for profit community group run by dedicated local volunteers. We gather together to enjoy time in the garden and to build real community relationships, whilst making a difference to the local environment.

Starting from a patch of wild oats, the grounds have been transformed into an established working garden which is now producing lovely fresh vegetables, herbs and some fruit.

Environmentally friendly food production and gardening practices are used. Wicker beds, raised garden beds, water saving techniques, frog ponds and composting bins are in use. Bore water is used in the garden to reduce the use of scheme water. Plans for the future include further development of the vegetable gardens. A BBQ with under cover seating is available for use in the garden.

Recently the church building has had some major renovations including re-stumping of the floor, new gyprock walls and a fresh paint job inside. All work was undertaken by volunteers with funding being provided from various grants and fund raising endeavours by members.

This is a place for everyone to enjoy and to get involved at the grass roots level of community gardening. We are now at the stage of having the basic structure of the garden complete and are now moving towards improving and adding growing our own vegetables on a larger scale.

We are now open on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, to cater for those who work week days and to appeal to a broader cross section of the community. If you have an interest in seeing what we are up to, or want to join in please come down on these days and meet the crew.

We are now on Facebook under a public community page called Mundijong Heritage Community Garden and Church. Join up and join in to keep up to date with the micro community at 18 Paterson Street, Mundijong. Interesting articles, happy snaps and events are posted and we encourage members to share.
